Culinary Kids is a family-style teaching kitchen! Kids & families connect while practicing creative cooking skills with professional teachers and chefs. We inspire, build confidence and love our work!

The following responses will be considered in judging for a SCORE Award.

How has working with a SCORE mentor helped your business?

SCORE has been the backbone of my business education. Innovative business ideas and passion is never enough. I knew that I was lacking in business knowledge so I reached out to SCORE when we opened and have been mentored ever since. As a small business owner and mother of 4 small children, the stress of a small business was tremendous, my learning curve on financial planning, bookkeeping and marketing was daunting. I need help but had no cash yet! When I met Mack I realized I really COULD do this with experienced professionals willing to help me learn my way. SCORE's help allowed me to KEEP my passion alive and breathe easy knowing help was a phone call away! I wouldn't be here enjoying my work without my SCORE mentor, Mack Deloney.

Please describe the specific ways that your business has been successful and how it will grow in the next year.

Open for 6 years, we've grown from 2 staff members to 20. We have now afforded two managers to free my time for development as the owner. By year 4 we paid down our debt and purchased our OWN facility, twice the size with yards and gardens...the perfect space to expand! We have been honored every year with countless awards, Chamber Member of the Year, and many community voted awards for our successful programming. Two of our students have won championships on Chopped Jr, several have gained acceptance into a prestigious culinary arts school locally, and more students are on the way! We have plans to travel to other states this year and entertain franchise inquiries and would like to reach more non-profit programs and lower income families.
