What makes your business one of the best small businesses in your community?
I really do feel that we are doing something good. It’s my mission. People don’t understand the complicated world of chemicals and we’ve taken it upon ourselves to educate. I lost my mother and just recently my sister to cancer. This has got to end. I vet every single ingredient that goes into my skincare for purity and safety. I’m a home-grown girl, people in my community know me and trust me. They know I’ve made it my passion to build a business that stands for honesty and keeping people healthy. It’s much more than just pushing products. It’s about doing event after event and talking to people, especially young girls who need to develop healthy skincare habits. It’s about educating so people can make informed decisions about what they bring into their lives. I want to teach people what I’ve learned about living a healthy life. Because of my losses to cancer, I do many events to raise money for cancer. We’ve all got to make a difference, and it starts right in our own backyards.

How has working with a SCORE mentor helped your business?
Absolutely! The amount of opportunities that Ed has opened up for me cannot even be measured. He has completely changed the direction of my business and in turn, I don’t think it is too bold to say, my life. Ed is smart, resourceful, interested and he is on top of everything. I don’t know how he does it all because I know I’m not the only one he is mentoring.
Please describe the specific ways that your business has been successful and how it will grow in the next year.
The experience of Sans Is one that delights our customers from beginning to end. Our unpackaging experience is especially nice, with a special surprise tucked in every beautifully packed box, topped off with a special handwritten note inside each package. We have a very loyal customer following because we get to know our customers, we have conversations with them and get to know what they want. They love that. Next year we will give our customers more, starting with a loyalty program and a monthly newsletter that will add value to their lives. We want to grow our business by nurturing our most loyal customers so that they continue referring to us. We will also look to adding more wholesale and private labeling customers to our family!
