What makes your business one of the best small businesses in your community?
Nicole Williams Collective (NWC) is a client-centric communications and events agency specializing in programmings and campaigns which targets multicultural youths, women professionals and entrepreneurs within a variety of industries. Women make up a little more than 50% of our population and according to data from the Department of Education, women earn more college degrees. Yet when compared to men, there is a gender gap in terms of economic opportunity. NWC sees this as a call to action to create programming that fuses storytelling-led communications and empowerment through personal narratives by expanding our arsenal to include the #FabulouslyFearless initiative. This initiative is aimed at providing inclusion, empowering youths and women of all ages, background and ethnicity, giving them access to tools, training and support. Personal and professional advancement and fulfillment should be accessible to everyone and our productized ecosystem of services is making that possible.

How has working with a SCORE mentor helped your business?
This roller coaster called entrepreneurship, can sometimes be oversimplified. It is filled with many highs and lows. While I’m pretty savvy and have had my share of successes, I had plateaued. I was also at a point where a lot was happening: full-time mom, full-time student, business owner and part-time job. I needed someone with major business management experience as a sounding board. So I sought out a SCORE mentor, hoping for guidance that would take me over the hump. Then one day Video Mentoring popped up on my Facebook feed. Enters Steve Martin. Steve has been my guiding light through all the nuances and complexities of entrepreneurship, from tweaking my brand to identifying ways to scale while pushing me beyond my comfort zone.
Please describe the specific ways that your business has been successful and how it will grow in the next year.
New York City is like graduate school, I matriculated through and my curiosity morphed into a business. Like the city I live in, my mission was to build a business that was culturally savvy, values diversity and inclusion while being socially responsible. Nicole Williams Collective is an agency that’s founded on resilience, innovative thinking and the strength of a teen mom who became a mom boss. Working with Steve helped to expand NWC’s arsenal to include a productized ecosystem, expand the #FabulouslyFearless initiative, create strategic partnerships and training to empower multicultural youths and women. I look to continue solidifying our company’s growth-potential, coupled with community focused programming to increase social impact.
