Our company is providing ease, comfort and safety to hundreds of surgical patients - during an extremely vulnerable part of post-op recovery.
The Medical Drain Carrier provides a mesh construction pocket with waist-ties to hold and manage external medical drains. It’s made of material that is both non-abrasive and quick-drying, and will allow the patient to wear while showering.
The innovation has successfully disrupted a 50 year-old protocol of using safety pins as a medical device. Healthcare providers, including UC Davis Medical Center, Sutter Health and Dignity Health have adopted the Drain Carrier. Patients' recovery time is accelerated, and there's fewer readmissions as a result of accidental drain tube expulsions.

How has working with a SCORE mentor helped your business?
Thanks to the assistance of our SCORE mentor, we are now trending 130% above our sales volume and revenue from 2016. We’ve added five new hospitals as customers, including the University of Chicago Medical Center. We were selected Startup of the Year by Sacramento Region Small Business Association and named a finalist in the MedTech Division of Sacramento’s 2017 Innovation Awards. Also, we received the top award from Guidewell Innovation’s 2017 Cancer Challenge.
Please describe the specific ways that your business has been successful and how it will grow in the next year.
The number of hospitals requesting information has grown significantly as a result of an effective email campaign. A Product Education manager effectively maintains a Customer Relationship Management platform and disseminates educational materials, including videos and fact sheets, to key nursing personnel and new customers.
We've increased sales online by 110% in the last six months, and we are now trending 130% above our sales volume and revenue from 2016 and expect to grow at least another 200% in 2018.
