Slezak Podniky - Slezak Ag & Natural Resources
Forestry & Ag Consulting services working with clients toward sustainable use of resources. It's all Connected! Branching out to rescue trees considered waste – Trees2Products. Reducing waste/smoke.
What one unique aspect of your business will make you succeed over the next year?
Our passion for sustainable use of our natural resources and filling a void for needed services to reduce wood fiber waste. Trees2Products will take rescued logs and put them in the supply chain for the best use for that log, be it lumber, beams, turning stock, craft wood, fire wood or mulch. We will provide the raw material for others to use or finished value-added products. With our portable saw mill we will include 4H, FFA and High School shop class visits and demonstrations at farm shows to spread the knowledge that wood products can come from urban and rural areas, not just large forested tracts. With the Emerald Ash Borer found in Nebraska, ample urban and farmstead trees will be removed as they die, or proactively to spread cost over time. All those trees will be wasted unless we can connect the dots showing Trees2Products can be done here, as it has in other states. Some 'rescue' work is starting in the metropolitan areas, but we can make a difference in rural areas. A kiln is the next step. Expanding our store front on Main Street and on the web for wood products is another target for increased success.
How does your business make a positive impact on the community?
Slezak Podniky (Enterprises) has diversified business operations from a small grain and cattle farm, natural bulk beef, Forestry and Ag Consulting, custom photography and computer business. Multiple businesses in a 104 mile radius trust us for their computer needs, and we provide computer and other support for the annual Milligan June Jubilee celebration and our United Methodist Church. We also oversee the recycling for the Village, reducing landfill space and generating a small stipend for the Village of 300 people. Having lost one mother to breast cancer and the other a survivor, we support and participate in the Fillmore County Relay for Life. We share ideas for up-cycling, recycling and re-purposing resources at every possible chance.
What would you do with a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, training, and help from a SCORE mentor to grow your business?
Marketing products, training and a SCORE mentor will be of the utmost help. Need marketing training as it's hard to toot your own horn. A business mentor to help get over the hurdle of not being an expert unless 25 miles from home and charging what we're worth. Want to need to hire others and show Trees2Products can be done as a web/network thought the Plains. Signage for Trees2Products at the mill and on location, as well as vertical self-standing banners at marketing/educational events such as farm and home shows. Tools for working smarter not harder such as the Eight-Way Cart and Sit to Stand Double Workstation, and cordless tool batteries are always in need.
