Pathfinder Labs, Inc. is an online platform providing crowd-sourced reviews and impact analysis of local support resources serving all transitioning populations, including military veterans.

What one unique aspect of your business will make you succeed over the next year?

Pathfinder is doing what no other technology has done for social impact. With the goal to become the number one crowd-sourced review platform of support resources for all transitioning members of society (Veterans, recently incarcerated, immigrants, etc.), we are focused on engaging and serving the communities we call home. Our process is truly unique. We focus on every aspect of community support services to address every need. Our predictive analysis platform is highly adaptable, ensuring rapid success with a variety of clients. Using reviews and machine learning, we match users to resources with a high success probability. Every service – from local shops to non-profits to VA hospitals – can be reviewed. Users can connect to services in their new neighborhoods before arrival through features like “one click to register” for participating services. Searching and posting reviews is quick and easy, taking only a few minutes. Support resources use our subscription model for continuous self-improvement using predictive algorithms and system design, presented on simple dashboards. Not only does this provide resources with much-needed feedback, but it also helps close the gap between services provided and the true needs in the community. Our process saves time and overhead. We close the loop with clear impact data for foundations, municipalities, and donors, which also influences platform use. With our adaptability, no client or community is out of reach.

How does your business make a positive impact on the community?

Veterans, our beta test, are constantly transitioning. 250,000 exit service annually, joining the 22,000,000 seeking assistance from over 1,000,000 providers. In such a crowded field, finding critical resources can intimidate. Many do not seek needed support and risk depression, homelessness, even suicide. Meanwhile, services compete for attention. But with poor-quality feedback, there is limited quantitative impact data to improve services or to see which are most effective. Pathfinder is changing this grim pattern. We streamline how transitioning populations seek and connect with resources, letting users make the right choices at the right time. Our analysis also helps resources improve their services, impacting every community.

What would you do with a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, training, and help from a SCORE mentor to grow your business?

We plan to host quarterly outreach and social events where local resources are presented through panels on the arts, education, and other opportunities. This allows service providers to proactively reach out to potential clients and for us to gather reviews. A $1000 Sam’s Club card would meet logistic needs to realize this initiative for all of 2017. January 2017 brought us our first client requests ahead of schedule. SCORE mentors and training would provide Pathfinder with the necessary guidance to refine our business plan and budget, ensuring that growth and funding goals are met. A grand prize award would help build the second half of our platform to meet increased demand, further expanding our impact on lives and in communities.
