Business Description

Babies at the Barre™ is a babywearing “Mommy and me” style exercise class. Exercises focus on rebuilding strength in the core and pelvic floor while new moms connect with their baby and each other.

How does your business make a positive impact on the community?

Babies at the Barre™ positively impacts the community by connecting and forming a supportive network of new moms across the US and world. New moms often face ‘baby blues’, postpartum depressions, anxiety, and isolation. Social interaction and exercise, has been shown to assist in reducing the likelihood and severity of postpartum depression and anxiety. Providing live streaming classes offers moms who are otherwise unable to attend an in person meetup, to exercise together, bond with their baby, and socialize face to face. The ability to share their own joys and challenges as a new mom and listen to those of other new moms helps combat the isolation and questions of ‘am I doing this right’ that many new moms face.

What would you do with a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, training, and help from a SCORE mentor to grow your business?

Training and assistance from a SCORE mentor would be invaluable. I appreciate feedback on ideas and business planning. Being a small business owner, I learn as I go. Training and mentorship would help me to learn about options, guide me through some of the difficult steps and decisions associated with growth, and assist in coming up with ideas. A $1000 Sam’s Club gift card would assist in funding travel expenses, through Sam’s Club Travel, necessary for growing the business nationally through teacher training and exhibiting at conferences geared for new parents. The gift card would also be used toward marketing materials made at the Sam’s Club Photo Center and to stock up on paper and ink for printing materials.
