What one unique aspect of your business will make you succeed over the next year?

The Fruit Club located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota specializes in bringing fresh fruit directly from the farms to 250 communities in 14 states throughout the Midwest. The founders and owners, Matthew and irina Kleinsasser and their small staff work very closely with family farmers and orchard growers to bring their customers GMO Free fruit all year round. Personal attention is given to each farm chosen to be part of TFC family. Each month one or more fruits that are in "season" are selected and delivered and shipped to customers at 250 locations in the Midwest. February/March's pick is fresh strawberries from Florida. In addition their goal is also to sell their select produce at a reasonable price so families at all economic levels can enjoy the benefits of farm fresh fruit. By cutting out the “middle man” and selling direct to the consumer they have been able to accomplish this. In mid February The Fruit Club is opening a storefront market featuring fresh fruit, specialty items, gift baskets, consignment products, and showcasing its jams, sauces, and maple syrup. The Market will also feature scheduled cooking classes, demonstrations, and educational classes on how to get the most out of your fruit. Irina and Matt strongly believe The Fruit Club is on the path to helping families enjoy fresh fruit at a reasonable price while helping family farms and orchards prosper.

How does your business make a positive impact on the community?

The Fruit Club's mission to bring quality GMO Free fresh ripen fruit at a reasonable price to families in the Midwest throughout the year is a benefit to their health and pocketbook. TFC works to broaden the markets for family owned farms and orchards and to keep them alive and prospering. In addition the emphasis on education through classes and online videos is important for families to learn more healthy eating and lifestyles. The Fruit Club also sponsors The South Dakota Peach Festival in Sioux Falls, S. D. It brings family style entertainment to the area and helps raise funds for a deserving non-profit. Lifescape is the 2017 non-profit organization.

What would you do with a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, training, and help from a SCORE mentor to grow your business?

The gift card will help us purchase video equipment that will enable us to produce quality online videos on the benefits of healthy eating and cooking. We want to make eating fruit appealing to younger children and teach them good eating habits from an early age. Working with a Score member who has experience and wisdom in our field will be a great benefit to our young company as we work to bring fresh fruit to our customers and help family farms prosper.
