The hardest part of joining any organization is remembering the names of everyone you just met. We generate flash cards and quizzes of members for members to review and learn each others' name.
What one unique aspect of your business will make you succeed over the next year?
MetKnow is the first app to help people remember names. This is facilitated through a suite of patented resources. The MetKnow platform uses flash cards and quizzing to gamify the activity of knowing people you interact with on a regular or even infrequent basis. Organizations that use MetKnow see higher levels of retention and engagement. Knowing a name gives you the confidence to interact with someone. When someone calls you by name you are immediately more comfortable with them and the international is naturally more meaningful.
We are first movers in this industry and have already struck up partnerships with major organizations in the business world, greek life, and community organizations. People are seeing that flash cards and quizzes can help their members learn each others names and the immense value it adds. Not only have human resource services found MetKnow useful, but churches and country clubs have too.
Besides being a first mover, our other leg up is our patent. We have an issued patent on electronic flash cards and electronic quizzing for the sake of knowing people. We also have another patent that is currently pending. Our patents are also perfect for licensing opportunities to larger companies like Facebook, linkedin, outlook, workday, etc.
Beyond this we are currently working with a neurologist to study the impact of MetKnow on patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) with a focus on Alzheimers patients.
How does your business make a positive impact on the community?
We want to help members in organizations feel more comfortable by knowing everyone's name. When everyone knows each other's name it also creates a much more productive environment. I had the hardest time learning the names of my pledge of brothers and I know they all had the same problem at the University of Arkansas. So I created MetKnow. Once everyone signs up, it generates flash cards and quizzes of the members for the members. It was a hit and spread to every house on campus.. We are now selling to HR software companies to decrease turnover and are part of a study to see if we can help people with dementia remember the names of their loved ones and improve their memory.
What would you do with a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, training, and help from a SCORE mentor to grow your business?
We would buy supplies for my company. Running a business at 23 is expensive. Having a Sam's gift card would help cover a lot of those costs. I also still have a lot to learn, especially when it comes to sales and management. My mentor would help educate me on how to improve the efficiency of my business.
