Cincinnati Treasure Hunts

Submitted by: Joseph Dorsey

Business Description

CTH are self guided treasure hunts families, couples, or any small group can do using their smart phones at 5 locations in Cincinnati including Eden Park, Downtown, and Art Museum among other places.

What one unique aspect of your business will make you succeed over the next year?

The unique aspect that will make Cincinnati Treasure Hunts succeed over the next year is its very uniqueness! Unlike other companies that offer generic, "retreaded" treasure or scavenger hunts that can be done in any city, Cincinnati Treasure Hunts are written and created by a local history buff and reveal fun facts and trivia along the way that only someone with a real love and on-site, self researched knowledge of their city's fascinating hidden history could create. We reveal things that no matter how much you googled, you would never find out! Here is one feedback we receive that says it all, ""The treasure hunt was so much fun! Although we have been going to Eden Park for 20 years, I saw parts of it today I had never seen. Thank you. Next is the treasure hunt for downtown. Until then, Professor Hunt."

How does your business make a positive impact on the community?

First, it offers what is probably one of the lowest cost per person entertainment values in the city. What else or where can a family do or go and have a great time indoors or outdoors for only $20.00? Second, not only is it inexpensive entertainment, it is really good old fashioned, "wholesome" fun. It gets kids and families spending time together outside walking and exploring, they learn about local history and little known fun facts in a very fun way, and they have to use their wits and brains as a team to solve riddles and quizzes! All in all, we hope to get families and people outside and appreciating what a wonderful, fascinating, and beautiful city they live in!

What would you do with a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, training, and help from a SCORE mentor to grow your business?

I really need help on Facebook and other social networking type advertising to market my little business and raise consumer awareness. With the $1,000 gift card, I would use it to offer prizes. I can easily see having a special promotion where you could get entered into a sweepstakes if you successfully complete the treasure hunt and have a chance at winning ACTUAL treasure. Think that could create a lot of buzz!
