Business Description

Generalized merchandise; thrift, secondhand, consignment

What one unique aspect of your business will make you succeed over the next year?

The overall atmosphere of the business is what sets us apart from others who are similar. We have open space, aisles large enough for wheelchairs and strollers, and everything is organized into categories for easier shopping. We interact with every person who comes through the doors and try to help them find what they are looking for, even if we don't carry it or have it in at the moment. The window in the photo is the window to our homeschooling classroom where our 3 kids are homeschooled 4 days a week. Making it a family business and environment makes people feel like they're coming to a home away from home and people return week after week to visit and find a little treasure for themselves.

How does your business make a positive impact on the community?

We run a community based charitable organization out of our store. It is not 501 non-profit. Rather, it's based off of our generosity and the generosity of our community members to help those in need in our county. We help with things like groceries, diapers, wipes, clothing, household goods, and furniture. When we get a referral or have someone come in with a need, they are allowed to shop our store and either pay nothing or pay what they can afford. No questions asked.

What would you do with a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, training, and help from a SCORE mentor to grow your business?

I would spend the gift card on business supplies and also diapers and wipes, since those are the most needed items in our community. Training is always helpful, no matter the stage of business and we would love to be able to expand our store into the storage areas that we have in our building area.
