Business Description

I hand make gourmet toffee in ten unique flavors. I also make a toffee dessert sauce in 4 flavors and I make a granola that is held together with toffee. All natural no preservatives.

What one unique aspect of your business will make you succeed over the next year?

I make a unique product I call Toffee Trail Clusters. It is a granola that is held together with toffee and a little bit of honey. I currently package it in a plastic tub and sell it mainly to local grocery stores in the bakery. People taste it and their eyes roll back in their head. People love it. People call me on the phone just to tell me they love it. I want to find a way to package it like a bar. Like a Kind bar or a Clif bar. I think people get tired of the same bars and mine is unique and it tastes very good. It doesn't have chocolate like many bars do and some people are looking for that. I think if I can get the packaging down and a marketing channel, this would have a nation wide appeal.

How does your business make a positive impact on the community?

My business donates gift baskets to several organizations that are raising money for charitable causes. I donate 20 to 30 baskets a year.

What would you do with a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, training, and help from a SCORE mentor to grow your business?

I would ask the SCORE mentor to help me with creating new packaging for my Toffee Trail Clusters to package them as bars. I would need help in finding the right equipment as well. I could use the $1,000 Sam's card to buy butter sugar and oats to make the Toffee Trail Clusters and that would free up money to purchase packaging and equipment.
